Vooruit-exe

Van Vooruit namen Hilde Vanderstraeten en Debbie Baute op 26 november 2010 deel aan de Slow Boat Conference #2 in Brussel (een organisatie van Kaaitheater, Vlaams Theater Instituut en Imagine 2020). Hilde en Debbie werken vanuit de dienst Infrastructuur aan een lange-termijnmilieubeleidsplan voor Vooruit. De Slow Boat Conference gaf hen voedsel om enkele topics (mobiliteit, artistieke planning) nader te bekijken met De Groene Vooruit. Vooral de lezing van Sian Alexander (Julie’s Bicycle) vonden ze heel inspirerend. Lees hier hun kort verslag van de Slow Boat Conference #2.

Jan Goossens (directeur KVS) was de eerste spreker op de Slow Boat Conference. Zijn bijdrage ‘On the social contextualisation of the international arts practice’ focuste op duurzaam internationaliseren. Hij hield een pleidooi voor méér touren in eigen land/stad, voor langere speelperiodes/meer speelplekken/nieuw publiek zoeken voor compagnies uit het buitenland i.t.t. de praktijk van internationaal touren voor kleine (gepriviligieerde) groepen toeschouwers/artiesten of internationale festivals waarin internationale compagnies slechts enkele voorstellingen spelen. Werkpunten:

• reconnect international with local
• shared forms of internationalisation
• no cultural shoppers/hoppers who want to program as international as possible

Judith Knight (Artsadmin London) berichtte over resultaten van de eerste Slow Boat conference (in Londen). Er is een ‘Imagine 2020’ netwerk opgestart dat 11 Europese podiumkunstenorganisaties samen brengt rond het thema klimaatverandering. Sinds juli 2010 heeft het een 5-jarige erkenning van de Europese Commissie binnen het European Culture Programme (subsidie van 2,2 miljoen euro). Een van de suggesties van dat netwerk is: “Keep earlier work in repertoire instead of investing in new projects”.

Green policy:

• “If you come to our venue, we would like you to use the train, ….”
• Is it environmentally acceptable to make something for few public?
• Make having ‘a green policy’ an item of funding

Sian Alexander (theatre specialist Julie’s Bicycle) gaf een lezing getiteld ‘Moving arts: managing the Carbon Impacts of our Touring’. Julie’s Bicycle is working with the creative industries to co-ordinate and catalyse best practice in sustainability and develop cultural leadership around climate issues to reduce the sector’s greenhouse gas emissions. JB helps organisations understand their carbon impacts and take responsibility for reducing them by providing clear, practical advice and support, based om the best available research, tools and resources.
