De Groene Vooruit in actie: snoeien in voetafdruk / Green Vooruit in action: reduce our footprint
Voor het nieuwe Vooruitseizoen van start ging, werd de hoogspanningscabine van het Vooruitgebouw vervangen. De nieuwe installatie zal het mogelijk maken om het elektriciteitsverbruik per zaal te meten. En meten is weten, niet onbelangrijk omdat we inspanningen willen leveren om ons stroomverbruik omlaag te krijgen!
Before the new Vooruit season started, the building’s transmission substation was replaced. The new installation will allow us to measure each hall’s electricity usage separately. This is key to our effort to reduce our electricity usage!
Energieverbruik meten en verlagen / Measuring and reducing electricity usage
De vernieuwing van de stookplaats in de voorbouw van het Vooruitgebouw, gekoppeld aan de nodige isolatiewerken, zal het energieverbruik van Vooruit zeker al doen dalen. Een derde inspanning waarmee Vooruit dit seizoen zijn ecologische voetafdruk aanpakt, is de installatie van LED-verlichting in verschillende zalen. Na het café, waar eerder al LED-verlichting opdook, werd in augustus de traditionele PAR theaterbelichting in de Balzaal vervangen door LED-verlichting. Het uitzicht blijft hetzelfde, maar we besparen er 16 KW per uur mee. Bijkomende groene voordelen aan de LED-verlichting zijn: kleurenfilters vervangen hoeft niet meer en de lampen gaan 5 jaar mee i.p.v. 6 maanden. Verder dit seizoen zal Vooruit nog een 400-tal ingebouwde armaturen ombouwen naar LED armaturen.
Renewing the boiler room in the front building and the installation of the required insulation will already reduce our electricity consumption significantly. A third measure intended to reduce Vooruit’s ecological footprint this season is the installation of LEDs in several halls. We already have LEDs in the Café, and in August we replaced the traditional PAR lights in the Balzaal with LEDs. The light is the same, but they save 16 KW an hour. Other green advantages of the LEDs are that we don’t have to use color filters anymore and that the lamps have a service life of five years instead of six months. Later on in the season, Vooruit will replace around 400 built-in lighting fixtures with LEDs.
Groene energie / Green energy
In het voorjaar van 2009 is Vooruit overgeschakeld op 100% groene stroom. Energieleverancier Electrabel levert “AlpEnergie” aan Vooruit. Die elektriciteit wordt opgewekt in waterkrachtcentrales in de Franse Alpen. Electrabel werkt daarvoor samen met haar partners in Frankrijk: de Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (CNR) en de Société Hydroélectrique du Midi (SHEM). Certificaten (van het Duitse Technischer Überwachungs Verein) garanderen de natuurlijke oorsprong van onze stroom.
Vooruit fully switched to green energy in the spring of 2009. Power supplier Electrabel supplies Vooruit with ‘AlpEnergie’. This energy is generated in hydraulic power plants in the French Alps. Electrabel provides ‘AlpEnergie’ in collaboration with its French partners: the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (CNR), and the Société Hydroélectrique du Midi (SHEM). The origin of the power is guaranteed by certificates of the German Technischer Überwachungs Verein.
