Vooruit-exe

Op 4 november 2008 werd in Vooruit het officiële startschot gegeven voor Transdigital, een internationaal platform voor kunst, onderzoek en technologie met partners in Vlaanderen, Wallonië en Noord-Frankrijk. Tijdens een eerste digitaal salon werden onderzoeksprojecten voorgesteld van o.m. IBBT, Numediart, Vooruit, Latitudes Contemporaines en TechnocITé. Die projecten zullen deel uitmaken van het traject dat Transdigital de komende jaren wil afleggen.

The 4th of November 2008 saw the official opening of Transdigital, an international platform for art, research and technology with partners in Flanders, Wallonia and Northern France. At this first digital get-together, new projects by IBBT, Numediart, Vooruit, Latitudes Contemporaines and TechnocITé were introduced. These projects will be part of the path that Transdigital will follow in the coming years.

Toen we twee jaar geleden met Pascal Keizer in Mons de realisaties van LeManege/CeCN en TechnocITé bezochten, werd al duidelijk dat er méér in zat dan de occasionele uitwisseling van vriendelijkheden, artiesten en adressen en dat er op nauwelijks een uur rijden van mekaar zeer gelijkaardige processen van synergie tussen kunst, onderzoek en technologie aan de gang waren. Ook in Noord-Frankrijk vonden we al snel partners, enthousiasme en knowhow.

When we visited the projects of LeManege/CeCN and TechnocITé two years ago in Mons with Pascal Keizer, it became clear that so much more was possible than the occasional exchange of small talk, artists and addresses, and that highly similar synergy processes between art, research and technology were taking place at less than an hour’s drive from each other. We quickly found partners, enthusiasm and know-how in Northern France as well.

Transdigital is geboren uit noodzaak, uit nieuwsgierigheid en in de overtuiging dat Transdigital een platform van kennisuitwisseling kan worden dat de grenzen van de aparte sectoren overstijgt. Het is meer dan een werkplaats voor artiesten, meer dan een denktank voor wetenschappers en meer dan een creatieve bron voor bedrijven. Transdigital zet de volgende vier jaar in de drie regio’s seminaries op, organiseert workshops en masterclasses en integreert de opgedane kennis in producties en projecten.

Transdigital was born out of necessity, curiosity and with the conviction that Transdigital can become a platform for the exchange of knowledge that transcends the borders between different sectors. It is more than a workplace for artists, more than a think tank for scientists and more than a creative source for companies. In the following four years, Transdigital will hold seminars in the three regions, organise workshops and master classes and integrate the gathered knowledge in productions and projects.

Transdigital wordt een permanent, grens- en sectoroverschrijdend en hybride labo en platform, een groene motor voor technologische ontwikkelingen, vanuit drie regio’s aangestuurd, vanuit drie sectoren gevoed, een katalysator van technologisch potentieel en creatief talent. Transdigital is een ambitieus project en we zijn dan ook niet weinig fier dat we daarvoor de volle steun krijgen van de Europese Unie in de vorm van INTERREG IV steun. Het project, dat in zijn totale omvang over vier jaar ongeveer 2,3 miljoen euro zal kosten, krijgt via het INTERREG IV Frankrijk-Wallonie-Vlaanderen programma voor de periode 2008-2011 over de drie regio’s heen 1.139.885,99 euro steun, waarvan 368.525 voor de Vlaamse partners bedoeld is.

Transdigital will be a permanent, boundary-breaking, border-crossing and hybrid lab and platform, a green engine for technological development, driven by three regions, fed from three sectors, a catalyst for technological potential and creative talent. Transdigital is an ambitious project and we are more than proud that we’ll receive support from the European Union in the form of INTERREG IV. The project, which will cost about € 2.3 million over a total of four years, will get 1,139,885.99 in funds thanks to the INTERREG IV France-Wallonia-Flanders programme for the 2008-2011 period for the three regions, 368,525 of which is destined for the Flemish partners.

Transdigital is geen alleenstaand project in Vooruit of bij de andere partners, het integreert zich in de nieuwe ontwikkelingen binnen de organisaties, het versterkt en vermenigvuldigt bestaande synergieën en maakt openingen naar nieuwe samenwerking, gezamenlijk onderzoek en ontwikkeling.

Transdigital is not a stand-alone project in Vooruit or for the other partners, it is part of new developments in these organisations, it strengthens and multiplies existing synergies and opens doors for new collaborations, joint research and development.
