Op vrijdag 12 december 2008 lanceert Vooruit het (proef)project ‘Korte Metten, met artistieke projecten uit heel verscheiden disciplines: korte performances, muzikale interventies, video, installatiewerk, lezingen, actie en reactie… Korte Metten wordt een broeikas voor klein, kort, voorlopig, hybride of geïmproviseerd werk; een opendeurdag in de hoofden van het creatief gebeuren. Daarbij zal de rol van een kritisch en bevragend publiek cruciaal zijn.

On Friday the 12th of December 2008, Vooruit will launch the (test) project ‘Korte Metten’, with artistic projects from all sorts of different disciplines, short performances, music interventions, videos, installations, seminars, action and reaction… Korte Metten will be a hothouse for small, short, temporary, hybrid or improvised work; an open day for creativity, where a critical and curious audience will play an essential role.

Kunstenaars die in Vooruit werken, krijgen via de Korte Metten de kans om embryonale ideeën te testen in een publieksomgeving. Op die manier krijgen ze een beter inzicht in wat werkt en wat niet. De Korte Metten zijn dus bij uitstek een platform voor tweerichtingsverkeer: een avontuurlijk publiek laat zich verrassen door kunstenaars, kunstenaars leggen hun oor te luisteren bij die kritische toeschouwers.

At Korte Metten, artists working in Vooruit will get the chance to test embryonic ideas in the presence of an audience. This will help them to get a better insight into what works and what doesn’t. Korte Metten is an ideal platform for two-way traffic: an adventurous audience that wants to be surprised by the artists as artists get feedback from the same critical audience.

In de regel zal een avond Korte Metten fragmenten tonen, ingrediënten voor wat later een volwaardig project zal zijn. Korte Metten is een cahier vol schetsen, aanzetten, scènes, acties en ideeën bestemd voor volle rijping. Omdat het programma van Korte Metten kort op de bal speelt, zal er enkel via het maandblad en de website over gecommuniceerd worden.

As a rule, you will get to see fragments at Korte Metten, the ingredients for what will later become a fully-fledged project. Korte Metten is a notebook full of sketches, early ideas, scenes and actions that need to ripen a little bit more. Because the Korte Metten programme tries to keeps its finger on the pulse, we will only communicate about it in our monthly and our website.

We plannen dit seizoen 2008-2009 drie edities van Korte Metten.
