Vooruit-exe

Er komt een nieuwe editie van Istanbul Ekspres, een coproductie van intercultureel centrum De Centrale en Vooruit (zie verslag editie 2006): van 15 t/m 24 januari 2009. In het kader van dat muziekfestival presenteren Vooruit, De Centrale, Victoria Deluxe en C.H.I.P.S. vzw een intercultureel digitaal jongerenproject.

There will be a new editon of Istanbul Ekspres, a co-production of intercultural centre De Centrale and Vooruit (see the report of the 2006 edition – Dutch only): from the 15th to the 24th of January 2009. For this music festival, Vooruit, De Centrale, Victoria Deluxe and C.H.I.P.S. vzw will present an intercultural digital youth project.

Leertraject eCultuur en interculturaliteit

In februari 2008 startte het Departement Cultuur, Jeugd, Sport en Media van de Vlaamse overheid (Debbie Esmans) een leertraject op: eCultuur en interculturaliteit. In de werksessies werden de deelnemers uitgenodigd om samen concrete plannen uit te werken en binnen de werkgroep te bespreken. Dat inspireerde Vooruit, Victoria Deluxe (sociaal-artistiek werkplatform) en C.H.I.P.S. vzw (gespecialiseerd in het bevorderen, begeleiden, coördineren en produceren van culturele initiatieven die nieuwe media, communicatie en participatie centraal stellen) om een jongerenproject op te zetten met De centrale in het kader van Istanbul Ekspres.

Met enkele workshops zal het project de aanloop vormen naar een groot intercultureel, stedelijk project tussen Gent en Istanbul in 2010 (waarover later meer info).

Trajectory eCulture and interculturalisation

In February 2008, the department of Culture, Youth, Sport and Media of the Flemish government started up a trajectory called eCulture and interculturalisation. The participants were invited to set up collaborative projects. This inspired Vooruit, Victoria Deluxe (social artistic work platform) and C.H.I.P.S. vzw (specialised in promoting, guiding, coordinating and producing cultural initiatives that place new media, communication and participation centrally) to work on a youth project with De Centrale in the framework of Istanbul Ekspres festival.

With a number of workshops, the project will form the starting point for a larger intercultural urban project between Ghent and Istanbul in 2010 (more information to come).

De plannen

In het eerste weekend van Istanbul Ekspres festival lopen enkele workshops in De Centrale. Gentse jongeren met verschillende achtergronden (waaronder jongeren uit Turkse families) zullen er experimenteren met audio en video.

In het tweede weekend van het festival zullen de resultaten van die workshops worden gepresenteerd in Vooruit en dienen als smaakmaker voor het project in 2010.

The plans

A number of workshops will take place in the first weekend of the Istanbul Ekspres festival. Ghent teens from different backgrounds (including kids from Turkish families) will experiment with audio and video.

In the second weekend of the festival, the result of those workshops will be presented in Vooruit and will serve as an appetizer for the 2010 project.
