Etoiles Polaires 08 Montréal
Na een verkenning van de Finse muziekscene in 07 organiseren Vooruit en Etoiles Polaires vzw een derde editie van het muziekfestival Etoiles Polaires rond artiesten uit Montréal, van 3 t.e.m. 6 december 08. (Zie ook vorige post van mei 08: Etoiles Polaires 08 zal focussen op Montréal.) Het wordt geen complete staalkaart van wat Montréal te bieden heeft, hopelijk wel een treffend sfeerbeeld van de muziekstad Montréal en een voorschot op de nieuwe golf pop- en rockartiesten die in eigen land zijn doorgebroken en nu resoluut hun weg naar Europa zoeken: Wolf Parade, Land of Talk, The Stills, Plants and Animals, Think about Life, Hot Springs,…
After exploring the Finnish music scene in 07, Vooruit and Etoiles Polaires vzw will organise a third edition of the Etoiles Polaires music festival with artists from Montréal from the 3rd to the 6th of October (Remember our post in May 08: Etoiles Polaires zal focussen op Montréal). We won’t be able to offer you a complete sampling of Montréal’s music scene, but hopefully, we’ll be able to give you a good idea of Montréal as a music city. We’ll introduce you to a wave of young pop and rock artist who have made it in their home country and are now looking to repeat this success in Europe: Wolf Parade, Land of Talk, The Stills, Plants and Animals, Think about Life, Hot Springs, etc.

Daarnaast aandacht voor meer experimenteel werk, met Dora Bleu, Harris Newman, Radwan Mounnehs Jerusalem in my Heart, Hrsta en Elfin Saddle.

Een vast onderdeel van het muziekfestival Etoiles Polaires Festival zijn de nieuwe samenwerkingen. Ditmaal staan er vier op het programma: Sam Shalabi gaat aan de slag met Bart Maris, Osama Abdulrasol, Edwin Van Vinckenroye en Joachim Badenhorst; gitarist René Lussier schrijft samen met Kristof Roseeuw nieuwe muziek voor het radioKUKAorkest; Harris Newman gaat een dialoog aan met Ignatz (Bram Deven); Eric Craven (van Hanged up) werkt met Köhn (Jurgen De Blonde).
As always at Etoiles Polaires, we’ll present some new collaborations. This year we’ll have four: Sam Shalabi will work with Bart Maris, Osama Abdulrasol, Edwin Van Vinckenroye and Joachim Badenhorst; guitar player René Lussier will arrange new music for the radioKUKAorkest with Kristof Roseeuw; Harris Newman enters into a dialogue with Ignatz (Bram Deven); and Eric Craven (Hanged Up) will work with Köhn (Jurgen De Blonde).
Stap voor stap zal het definitieve programma bekendgemaakt worden via de Vooruitsite, met heel wat audio en video erbij.
