Een opmerkzame Vooruitbezoeker stuurde ons haar vakantiefoto van The Forward Building in New York City. De bakstenen letters “Forward” deden haar – terecht – meteen denken aan de rode bakstenen letters “Vooruit” op ons gebouw.

An attentive Vooruit visitor sent us one of her holiday pictures featuring The Forward Building in New York City. The brick lettering reading “Forward” reminded her of the red brick “Vooruit” lettering on our building – and rightly so.

The Forward Building werd opgetrokken in opdracht van het progressieve joodse dagblad The Forward, door architect George Boehm. Het was klaar in 1912. Je vindt het in Manhattan (Lower East Side – 175, East Broadway). Op Wikipedia kun je meer over The Forward en het gebouw terugvinden.
