Pixelache heeft als subtitel ‘Festival of Electronic art and subcultures’. Het hart van het festival bestaat uit twee delen: een ‘nordic VJ meeting’ en een seminarie rond een bepaald issue in digitale cultuur. Daarrond wordt een avond- en nachtprogramma met audiovisuele acts gebouwd.
Pixelache’s subtitle is ‘Festival of Electronic art and Subcultures’. The festival is constituted of two parts: a nordic VJ meeting and a seminar on certain digital culture issues. To accommodate these two events, a day and an evening programme with audiovisual acts is set up.
Dit jaar was het thema voor het seminarie ‘architectures for participation’, over open netwerken, over de hype web 2.0, de systemen die worden gebouwd voor mensen om content te delen. Pixelache heeft de reputatie in de eerste plaats een festival van en voor artiesten te zijn, het is een ontmoetingsplek om werk te tonen en ideeën uit te wisselen.
This year, the seminar’s theme was ‘architectures for participation’, discussing open networks, the web 2.0 hype, the systems that are being constructed to help people share content. Pixelache is considered to be a festival that is organized by artists for other artists. It is a meeting place where artists can show their work and exchange ideas.
Juha Huuskonen is de bezieler van Pixelache Helsinki. Sinds kort is er ook een vaste kern in Parijs die activiteiten rond technologie en subcultuur presenteert onder de naam Mal au Pixel. In december 07 is Juha Huuskonen te gast in Vooruit om tijdens het muziekfestival de Finse Golf een ‘PixelPijn’ uit te werken voor Gent.
Juha Huuskonen is the creator of Pixelache Helsinki. Recently, a base was established in Paris which operates under the name Mal au Pixel and organises technology and subculture-related events. Juha Huuskonen will be visiting Vooruit in December 07 to develop Pixelpijn, a Flemish version of Pixelache, during the Finse Golf (Finnish Golf) music festival.
